McDonald’s Drive Thru of the Future Study

McDonald's has been a leader in Drive-Thru as a primary transaction and brand engagement channel. Nearly 20 years ago, we were tasked to rethink their current drive-thru setup in relationship with their existing building design and the site where it resides. Our team came up with a groundbreaking concept, elevating the drive-thru experience to the front, equal to in-restaurant dining represented by the strongly branded architectural building.

We started thinking from a landscape design POV, a site as our canvas, where Drive-Thru elements are treated equally, not as an afterthought. This study has been taken very seriously by McDonald's leadership. It is regarded as an innovative solution that bridges how the brand view drives experiences and eventually allows them to decide on the next generation of McDonald's prototype.
